The Problem With Location Security Today
❌ Without SpotCrime
- •Security teams learn about crime spikes from local news — after the fact
- •No standardized way to compare risk across 50 states and thousands of locations
- •Security resource allocation based on anecdotes, not data
- •Incident reports are reactive — by the time you know, it already happened
- •No way to measure whether security investments actually improved safety
- •Leadership asks "how safe are our locations?" and there's no objective answer
✅ With SpotCrime
- •Real-time crime alerts the moment an incident is reported near any location
- •A free A–F Crime Grade to benchmark relative risk across every location in the US
- •Data-driven resource allocation — deploy guards, cameras, and lighting where the data says to
- •Proactive risk monitoring — see crime trending up before it impacts your location
- •Before/after analysis proves ROI on security spend with hard numbers
- •Board-ready portfolio risk reports built on objective, defensible incident data

Portfolio Risk Reports
Generate weekly or monthly risk reports across your entire portfolio. Identify your top 10 highest-risk locations, track improvement after security interventions, and present data-backed findings to leadership.
API-First Integration
Feed SpotCrime data directly into your existing security operations center, business intelligence tools, or internal dashboards. RESTful API with JSON and GeoJSON output. Batch up to 500 locations per call.
How It Works
Upload Your Locations
Send us a CSV of your addresses — 10 or 10,000. We geocode and onboard every location into your monitoring portfolio within 24 hours.
Set Monitoring Parameters
Choose your monitoring radius (250ft to 5 miles), alert thresholds, crime type filters, and notification routing. Different parameters for different location types.
Monitor in Real Time
Your dashboard lights up. Green indicators for locations where crime is stable or declining. Orange pulses where crime is escalating. Click any location to drill into incident-level detail.
Act on Intelligence
Deploy resources where they matter. Justify security investments with data. Brief leadership with portfolio-wide risk reports. Measure the impact of your interventions over time.
Built for National Brands
Whether you operate 50 locations or 50,000, SpotCrime scales to monitor every single one. Here's how organizations across industries use location safety intelligence.
Retail Chains
A national coffee chain with 9,000+ US locations monitors crime within 500ft of every store. Regional security managers get daily digests showing which stores saw crime increases. Helps prioritize security guard deployment, camera upgrades, and store hour adjustments.
Banking & Financial Services
A top-10 US bank monitors crime around 4,200 branches and 16,000 ATMs. Real-time alerts flag robberies and assaults near any asset. Crime trend data feeds into branch security investment planning and ATM placement decisions.
Healthcare Systems
A hospital network with 30 facilities and 200+ clinics tracks crime around every location. Elevated crime triggers increased security staffing and patient/staff safety advisories. Data supports grant applications for community safety programs.
Quick Service Restaurants
A fast food franchise group operating 1,200 locations uses safety scores to benchmark risk across stores. Locations with declining scores get proactive intervention — lighting upgrades, security audits, adjusted closing times.
Property Management
A commercial REIT managing 400 properties monitors crime trends around every asset. Crime data feeds into tenant communications, lease negotiations, and capital expenditure planning for security improvements.
Logistics & Warehousing
A logistics company with 150 distribution centers monitors theft and burglary trends within 1 mile of every facility. Spike alerts trigger cargo security reviews and route adjustments for last-mile delivery.

Why the Largest Brands Choose SpotCrime
When you operate hundreds or thousands of locations across the United States, safety isn't abstract — it's operational. Every store, branch, clinic, and warehouse exists in a neighborhood with its own crime profile. That profile changes over time. What was a safe location two years ago might be seeing a surge in theft or assault today. What feels dangerous based on local news might actually be one of your safest sites by the numbers.
SpotCrime eliminates the guesswork. We've spent nearly two decades building the largest crime database in the United States — over 500 million records across 22,000+ cities, sourced directly from police departments, blotter reports, and public safety agencies. Not social media. Not AI-generated estimates. Actual, verified crime incident data, geocoded to the address level and categorized into 9 standardized crime types.
Our API lets you monitor every location in your portfolio in real time. Set a radius around each address and we'll tell you exactly what's happening — the reported incidents, their types, and how volume is trending. To compare a store in Seattle to a store in Miami on the same scale, the free A–F Crime Grade benchmarks each city against FBI data today, and a numeric 1–100 SpotScore is on our roadmap.
This isn't just about knowing. It's about acting. Security teams use SpotCrime data to deploy resources where the data says they're needed — not where the loudest complaint came from. Loss prevention teams use crime trends to anticipate theft waves before they hit. Real estate teams use historical crime data to make smarter site selection decisions. And when leadership asks "how safe are our locations?" — you have an objective, data-backed answer.
From a single coffee shop to a Fortune 500 portfolio, SpotCrime scales to monitor every location you operate. One API. One dashboard. One source of truth for location safety across America.

Frequently asked questions
- How does SpotCrime monitor safety across many locations?
- One API returns address-level crime incidents for every site in your portfolio across 22,000+ U.S. cities, so security and operations teams can monitor stores, branches, warehouses, and offices from a single integration instead of checking each location manually.
- How current is the data, and how far back does it go?
- Incident data refreshes about every 15 minutes. The API returns a rolling 90-day window on Developer and Pro monthly plans, a 6-month lookback on Pro annual, and deeper historical data and bulk archives (via AWS S3) on Enterprise.
- Can I benchmark and compare my locations?
- Yes. The free Crime Grade rates every FBI-reporting U.S. city A–F against national and state violent-crime data, so you can rank locations by relative risk. The full ranked dataset is downloadable, and the API adds real-time incident detail per site.
- Is a static IP address required?
- Yes. Every SpotCrime API key is bound to the static IP address(es) you register; requests from any other IP are rejected. This applies to all plans.
- How do teams typically integrate it?
- Most call the API server-side to enrich an existing dashboard or GIS/security system with a crime layer, on their own refresh schedule. All paid plans include a commercial license.
